(Senior) Quantitative Analyst for Power Market Modelling

At Montel Analytics, we are independent energy market experts focusing on international market design, digitalisation, energy prices, and electricity and energy trading. Our expertise includes analysis, forecasting and modelling of energy markets and prices, scientific and practical studies, customised consulting services, as well as training and expert workshops. In this way, we aim to contribute to the 1.5°C global warming limit.
You will support our team modelling the European power market and creating power price scenarios with our in-house modelling software (Power2Sim). You will identify opportunities and new ways to invest in the energy system of the future. Your findings will contribute to the success of our clients' solutions, helping them not only to slow climate change but also to generate positive cash flow from their investments.
Ideally, you will have experience in programming and quantitative methods. An interest in energy markets is required.
Your tasks:
- Fundamental power market modelling and data analysis
- (Further) development of existing and new products
- Reactive sales and client communication
- Liaise with research and consulting teams
- Project management
- Optionally: deliver seminars and training on electricity price forecasting and other energy market topics
What we expect from you:
- A degree in a technical or economic field, or a career changer with relevant experience
- At least three years of experience in a comparable position
- Strong ability to quickly grasp complex data structures and think analytically and entrepreneurially
- Good comprehension of the European energy markets
- Experience with Python and popular data analysis packages (e.g. Pandas)
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
- Ideally knowledge of functional or object-oriented programming languages (e.g. C#) and databases (e.g. PHP, MySQL)
- Independent, results-oriented approach to work and willingness to learn
- Strong and positive internal and external communication skills
- Language skills: Fluency in English; ideally, proficiency in German
